S&W M&P15 Rifle (M&P means Military and Police) is launched in 2006 when S&W reentered the rifle market. This M&P15 Series is based on the AR-15 Platform, chambered 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge, and offer the semi-automatic rifles in a variety of configurations tailored to specific shooting applications and styles. M&P15 Rifle has two varieties, the M&P15 and M&P15T, which the T model comes with folding sights and a railed hand guard. In 2008 and 2009, M&P15 has new variants, the M&P15R, which chambered 5.45x39mm cartridge, and the M&P15-22, chambered the .22 long rifle cartridge.
